Why I now leave video game end credits on my YouTube videos
A slight change in direction for my gaming videos on YouTube
If you’ve been following my YouTube channel for a while, firstly, thank you! It means a lot to me that so many people enjoy the videos that I make and take time out of their busy lives to watch what I create.
For those who haven’t, I’ll give a brief introduction (and place a sneaky link below so you can check it out).

Video games and LEGO are my two biggest passions in life (aside from my family of course, sorry Mrs Turian if you’re reading this!).
The Current Formula
I’ve always gone about making my videos in the same way:
- Start playing a game — usually one I’ve never played before.
- Complete that game and then give a brief review of my thoughts and feelings on that game whilst the end credits are rolling in the background.
- Once I’ve finished said review, I’ll either end the video or skip straight to any post-credits scenes the game might have.
This is a formula which has worked fine for the past 3 years. But it suddenly dawned on me around a month ago that I wasn’t being fair.
I often mention on Twitter and YouTube that I like to help indie game developers get some exposure for their creations by playing them on my channel. And it’s true.
Nothing makes me happier than discovering a gem of a small, relatively unknown game and interacting with the developer(s) who are always grateful that I’ve helped share their game with my viewers. In return, I get to play amazing games I didn’t know about.
But it’s not just indie game developers who work incredibly hard on their games is it?
Every single one of the people whose names are on a game’s end credits has contributed to that project in some way. They’ve dedicated themselves to seeing that project through and created something that I’ve then played on my channel.
I’ve been playing their games, enjoying them, but not giving them the airtime they deserve. Surely their hard work deserves to be rewarded in some way on my channel?
The Future
So, going forward, I’ll be making sure every one of those people who’ve worked hard on a game that I play on my channel with have their names shown.
I understand that some people aren’t interested in watching end credits and that’s perfectly fine. You’re of course more than welcome to skip them.
But for me, it takes extraordinarily little effort to leave those end credits and names in.
So that’s what I’m going to do. Full end credits at the end of a series to say thank you and display those people who created the game I had so much fun playing and sharing with you all.
Thank you, game developers, and anybody else who works on creating video games, both big and small. You guys rock and I wouldn’t be able to do what I do without you.
